The significance of the naval exercises between South Africa, Russia and China

While the Russian-Ukrainian conflict rages, South Africa has chosen to maintain a non-aligned position and participate in naval exercises involving Russia. Conducting naval drills could be seen as insensitive on the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to Steven Gruzd, Head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme at the South African Institute of International Affairs, in an interview with BCC
