Impact of South Africa’s absence at the G7 Summit

Japan’s decision not to invite South Africa to a G7 summit in Hiroshima in May has been described as a snub by some experts. In an interview on SABC News’ Morning Live, the Head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme at SAIIA, Steven Gruzd, describes South Africa’s exclusion as unusual considering the fact that the country has been a regular attendee of the summit.
