South African rand dives after Russia accusations

South Africa’s currency, the rand, dropped to new lows following accusations by the US ambassador to SA that the country provided weapons to Russia. According to SAIIA’s Head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme Steven Gruzd, the US is more important than Russia in terms of economic trade with South Africa.
