President Ramaphosa addresses foreign policy in SA

In his national address, President Cyril Ramaphosa said South Africa is committed to a policy of non-alignment. Speaking ahead of the BRICS Summit 2023, President Ramaphosa says the country has resisted pressure to align itself with any one of the global powers or with influential blocs of nations. In this interview with Chai FM, SAIIA’s Head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme Steven Gruzd says many of South Africa’s actions over the past 18 months suggest that the country is leaning towards Russia.
