The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), in partnership with the Economy Africa Program of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the African Centre for Economic Transformation and the Policy Centre for the New South, is proud to organise the first-ever Africa Data Summit on 26 June 2025.
The Summit will discuss how African countries can fully reap the benefits of emerging technologies in digital data and cloud storage for economic growth while minimising the associated risks.
It will explore the intersection of global digital and data economies with a particular focus on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by African nations.
Also to be discussed are robust legal and regulatory frameworks, ensuring data protection, harmonising fragmented policies, enabling secure cross-border data flows and advancing data sovereignty to safeguard individual rights.
Panelists will share practical experiences and policy insights on the challenges and opportunities of creating credible risk assessments for investments in Africa, and how better data availability can help strengthen macroeconomic resilience.
