The Seeds to Iconic Zones project explores how emerging renewable energy initiatives across Africa can scale innovative strategies and resilient business models into transformative ecosystems that support green industrialisation and economic and inclusive development.
Led by SAIIA’s Futures Programme, the project identifies promising new renewable energy initiatives that are developing at the edges of existing systems. It explores how these initiatives can be supported, expanded, and brought into wider institutional and social use, eventually contributing to larger green industrialisation efforts. Using participatory action research, strategic foresight, and multi-stakeholder engagement, the project defines pathways for scaling these initiatives while supporting the policy, investment, and governance changes needed to make this possible. Throughout, community upliftment and environmental wellbeing are at the centre.
