We are excited to invite you to the launch of the Youth Futures Journey Guide and Special Report, which are key outputs of the Youth Futures for Systemic Justice initiative – a multistakeholder collaboration aimed at strengthening youth agency in shaping just and sustainable futures in East and Southern Africa.
This work underscores that youth are central to long-term systemic transformations. Through a participatory, futures-informed research process, 33 youth researchers, seed innovators and changemakers experimented with new approaches to anticipatory action, relational systems thinking and systemic innovation. The Journey Guide documents the learning processes and practical approaches and methods used throughout the initiative, while the Special Report consolidates insights into an actionable framework for future youth change agency and transformative engagement in policy and practice.
The research reflects commitment to building youth agency to navigate complex challenges and create inclusive systemic innovations for long-term economic, ecological and social justice. It aims to inform change agency for policy, programming and partnerships across development sectors, showcasing the transformative potential of youth-led innovation and foresight.
The initiative is led by the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainability Transitions at Stellenbosch University and the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at University of Cape Town, with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
We look forward to welcoming you to this special event. Your engagement is central to deepening the impact of this work and fostering expanded cross-sector collaboration for youth-centred futures.
