The G20 dialogue will reflect on the outcomes of the G20 Leaders’ Summit held in Johannesburg on 22–23 November 2025, while exploring Africa’s engagement with the US G20 presidency and opportunities for future collaboration with the UK G20 presidency. South Africa’s 2025 G20 presidency marked a historic moment for Africa’s participation in global economic governance, as it was the first African country to lead the forum. South Africa’s presidency took place during a period of significant geopolitical fragmentation and uncertainty, and it advanced a development-oriented agenda under the theme ’Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability’.
This dialogue session will assess the legacy of South Africa’s presidency, including opportunities to sustain momentum on Africa’s concerns within the G20 process and on broader multilateral platforms. Attention will be given to the US’s G20 priorities and their implications for Africa. The session will also explore avenues for strengthening coordination between African stakeholders and future G20 presidencies, including engagement with the UK, to ensure continuity on issues of strategic importance to the continent.
We look forward to your participation.
