The Premier of the Western Cape, Mr Alan Winde, recently visited Germany and specifically Bavaria to renew economic ties between the Western Cape and that region. He met with the Vice-President of the Bavarian State Parliament, Mr Thomas Gehring. Alan Winde will talk on this visit and exciting business opportunities between the Western Cape and other regions in the world, while Mr Thomas Gehring will talk about opportunities between Bavaria and the Western Cape.
About the Speakers:
- Premier Winde has previously served as the provincial Minister of Finance, Minister of Economic Opportunities and Minister of Community Safety. He was first elected to serve as an MPL in 1999, a position he held for 10 years before the Democratic Alliance was voted into power in the province. In 2014, the Democratic Alliance retained the Western Cape. Alan Winde took up the position of Minister of Economic Opportunities, in charge of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. On 1 November 2018, he became the Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, and on 10 May 2019, following a campaign which spanned communities across the province, he became the Premier-Elect of the Western Cape.
- Mr Thomas Gehring is the Vice-President of the Bavarian State Parliament. He is also a member of the Presidium and of the Council of Elders. He was previously the Parliamentary Secretary of the Alliance 90/The Greens Parliamentary group and vice chair of the parliamentary group.
