Bridge to Lisbon – manufacturing in Africa for Africa
The Portuguese Embassy in South Africa and the European Investment Bank Regional Representation for Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean, in collaboration with SAIIA, are pleased to invite you to a virtual round table discussion on manufacturing in Africa. “Growth” and “green” are notions that often are seen as contradicting each other, especially in Africa. Yet Africa needs both and both need to be discussed. And the EU can be a partner in the conversation and in the follow up.
The event is part of a series of EU-Africa Green Talks leading up to the High-Level EU-Africa Green Investment Forum in Lisbon on 23 April 2021. The series is an unprecedented month-long dialogue between Europe and Africa in over 20 locations on both continents. The Forum will be jointly hosted by the EU Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Investment Bank.
Sustainable and inclusive manufacturing
Our panel of private sector and institutional representatives will discuss opportunities in sustainable and inclusive manufacturing in South and Southern Africa with a focus on deepening supply chains on the continent. The panellists will address opportunities and challenges in reaping the benefit of the African Continental Free Trade Area, best-practice and experiences, innovative approaches, mobilisation of private capital and expertise towards the Green Transition in Africa.
