South Africa’s New Voting System and Launch of the State Capture Commission Special Report

Join SAIIA for a workshop that will unpack the ins and outs of South Africa’s new voting system to be introduced during the 29 May elections.

To help you grasp this groundbreaking change, the workshop will delve into the following three aspects:

  1. Understanding the New Voting System: Get firsthand insights from experts who will guide you through the intricacies of South Africa’s new voting system, and its advantages and drawbacks.
  2. Exploring the Nexus of Elections and Foreign Policy: Delve into the intriguing question of “Elections and foreign policy: Does anything change?” We will analyse how party manifestos shed light on the foreign policy objectives of South Africa’s political parties, amidst the uncertainties surrounding the election outcome.
  3. Special Report Launch: We will unveil our Special Report on South Africa’s State Capture Commission by Judith February and Sanan Mirzoyev. Launching on Wednesday, 15th May, this report offers a comprehensive account of the events leading to the establishment of the State Capture Commission (SCC), delving into key findings regarding certain state parastatals. Gain valuable insights into the fight against corruption and the role of institutions like the SCC.
