Join our Western Cape branch and the United States Consulate General in Cape Town for a speakers meeting with the US Assistant Secretary for Arms Verification and Control, Mallory Stewart, to discuss arms control, risk reduction and current affairs.

Assistant Secretary Stewart will touch on the new multilateral agreement she is working on to develop norms and encourage responsible use of emerging Artificial Intelligence technology and lethal autonomous weapons.

Assistant Secretary Stewart is the United States government’s lead on US–Russia nuclear risk reduction, responsible disarmament, non-proliferation and strategic nuclear weapons issues and the regulation of space and emerging technologies. She is at the forefront of creating international rules to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence in lethal autonomous weapons.
