The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), in partnership with the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT) and the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS), is hosting a webinar on expectations for the Delhi G20 Summit, particularly considering that the African Union (AU) may be invited to join the G20.

India’s G20 Summit has come at a time when the international community faces unprecedented challenges, requiring effective collaboration and open dialogue to chart a path through the current polycrisis. Between the devasting impact of climate change, the strained economic space and increasing geopolitical volatility, the world looks to the decisions at the G20 Summit in New Delhi with much anticipation.

This webinar seeks to unpack what the world and Africa can expect from the G20 Summit. India has sought to prioritise development during its G20 presidency, embedding sustainability and the climate crisis across the Sherpa and Finance Tracks. The G20 Summit is set to amplify the voice of the Global South with India inviting the AU, the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), Egypt, Mauritius and Nigeria to the G20 Summit.
