African leaders head to Ukraine and Russia on a peace mission

African leaders are heading to Moscow and Kyiv in an effort to try to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The delegation which will be led by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa includes heads of state from Zambia, the Republic of Congo, Egypt, Senegal and Uganda. In this VOA interview, SAIIA’s Head of the African Governance and Diplomacy Programme Steven Gruzd says while it is hard to predict whether the mission will make a difference, any attempt at peacemaking should be welcomed.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
The views expressed are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect the views of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
