Concerns that Western countries’ support for Ukraine is waning

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is worried that Western countries which have been supporting Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, are now distracted by the conflict in Gaza and the Middle East. In this SAFM interview, SAIIA’s Senior Researcher Gustavo De Carvalho says that on the one hand, Ukrainians are looking to get more continued support from the West and on the other, there has been very limited movement on the conflict front.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
The views expressed are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect the views of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
