Italy’s Prime Minister unveils plans for stronger relations with Africa

Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, unveiled an investment plan worth more than $5.9 billion aimed at strengthening ties with African countries at the Italy-Africa Summit. The plan will also create an energy hub for Europe and curb immigration. In this Monocle Radio interview, SAIIA’s Senior Researcher, Gustavo De Carvalho, there has been a push to bring Africa to the forefront of Italian foreign policy. He says that from the Italian side, there is an important narrative of highlighting and focusing on equal partnerships.
