Seven African leaders kick off peace mission in Ukraine and Russia

The delegation of African leaders, including the presidents of South Africa, Senegal, Zambia and the Comoros Islands, went on a peace mission to Russia and Ukraine. The delegation hopes to start peace talks to bring an end to the conflict, which has significantly affected Africa. In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, SAIIA’s Senior researcher Gustavo de Carvalho says in the past year and a half African countries faced a lot of criticism for not taking a clear stance over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
