The African Union has been admitted as a member of the G20

The African Union was announced as a permanent member of the G20 by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his opening remarks at the G20 Summit 2023. In this interview with Power FM, SAIIA’s Chief Executive, Elizabeth Sidiropoulos, says the AU’s inclusion in the G20 is significant because the G20 is about reforming and dealing with the challenges of the global financial architecture, which has a big impact on African economies.
