As the death toll in the Gaza Strip surpassed the 5,700 mark, the United Nations has called for a ceasefire and for more aid trucks to be allowed safe passage for humanitarian aid. According to the UN, women and children have made up more than 62% of the fatalities, while more than 15,273 people have been injured.
