UN calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

As the death toll in the Gaza Strip surpassed the 5,700 mark, the United Nations has called for a ceasefire and for more aid trucks to be allowed safe passage for humanitarian aid. According to the UN, women and children have made up more than 62% of the fatalities, while more than 15,273 people have been injured. In this interview with ENCA, SAIIA’s Chief Executive Elizabeth Sidiropoulos says the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine has been brewing for many decades and the latest developments are a reiteration of the conflict.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
