Unpacking South Africa’s current population profile

The United Nations forecasts that South Africa will be home to an ageing population as early as 2030. By around 2060, it will be home to an aged population, with seniors accounting for 14% of the population. SAIIA’s Consultant Senior Researcher Lauren Johnston was in conversation with Power FM’s Denzil Taylor to discuss South Africa’s current population profile.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
The views expressed are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect the views of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
