Unpacking South Africa’s positions on nuclear energy

South Africa is the only country in the world to have developed and then dismantled its nuclear program in 1989. The country ended its biological, chemical, and ballistic missile programs in 1993. SAIIA’s Researcher, Isabel Bosman, participated in a Metro FM panel discussing what happened to South Africa’s nuclear energy program and its current position on nuclear energy.

SAIIA’s leading experts are available for interviews in person or virtually. We can also arrange for press to conduct interviews on-site at our headquarters in Johannesburg or at our Cape Town office.
The views expressed are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect the views of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
