He was previously the technical services manager at Vatukoula Gold Mines Ltd. and the director of the Centre for Sustainability in Mining and Industry at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has a niche consulting practice specialising in analysis of, and solutions to, problems of sustainability in the mining and minerals sector.
