Lissa Karanja

Lissa Karanja is a Research Associate specializing in Marine, Oceans, and the Blue Economy. Her early career was dedicated to scientific research, focusing on innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Kenya’s agricultural communities. She later undertook a successful fellowship at AGNES, where she combined her scientific expertise with knowledge of the science-policy-practice nexus to provide climate solutions in marine and coastal environments. Prior to joining AGNES, Lissa served as a Research Intern at the Centre for Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, utilizing cutting-edge genomic techniques to combat crop viruses and improve agricultural resilience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nairobi, graduating in 2023.
