Matthew holds a BA degree with majors in Political Science/International Studies, History, and Ancient Studies from the University of Stellenbosch (2018). In 2019, he completed his Honours degree (cum laude) in International Studies at the University of Stellenbosch. He is currently studying towards a Masters degree in Political Science at the same university. In 2019, Matthew represented South Africa at the BRICS School in Moscow – hosted by the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research. His research interests include state-building, peace and conflict studies, subaltern studies, digital politics and social constructivism.
