Sanan is an alumnus of the University of Pretoria (LLB) and the University of Cambridge
(LLM Commercial Law) and an advocate. A former clerk at the Constitutional Court, he
has also worked on high-profile public enquiries in South Africa and the UK. He worked with Freedom Under Law as a researcher during 2022. Prior to that, he was Southern Africa’s anti-corruption adviser for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, where he was responsible for designing, funding and implementing programmes focused on the UN Convention Against Corruption, as well as governance reforms in the areas of law enforcement, illicit financial flows, procurement and digitisation.
