It examines the Global Partnership through the lens of accountability, inclusive participation and political effectiveness, and analyses whether improvements have been made from the previous co-ordinating structure of the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness. The paper discusses the monitoring framework, indicators and the governance mechanism put into place for the new partnership at global, regional and country level, highlighting perspectives from Africa, South Africa and other emerging economies. It also explores links with other global processes, such as the Group of 20 Development Working Group, the UN Development Cooperation Forum and the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The paper concludes by providing insights and recommendations to countries, development partners and international organisations on priority areas in the current global architecture to improve the effectiveness of development co-operation.
