The AU Renewable Energy-Led Industrialisation project examines how renewable energy transitions can drive industrialisation, energy access and energy democracy across Africa. Using foresight and systemic innovation methods, the Transformative Energy & Climate Futures Policy Innovation Lab (TECF-PIL) brings together policymakers, researchers, the private sector, civil society and communities to co-create a strategic foresight framework. A case study of Egypt, which aims to generate over half its electricity from renewables by 2030, draws lessons for other member states. The project offers policy guidance and enhanced anticipatory governance capabilities within the AU and its member states.
