Held in Paris each May to coincide with the annual OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, the OECD Forum has emerged as a major international stakeholder summit.

Leaders from all sectors of civil society gather to debate the most pressing social and economic challenges confronting society. Since its creation in 2000, more than 15,000 people have already exchanged ideas and experiences.

In 2013, SAIIA is an official knowledge partner for the Forum. SAIIA’s Senior Research Fellow, Peter Draper, will participate in a high level panel entitled, ‘Beyond Resources’. The panel also inlcudes Erik Solheim, the former Minister of the Environmental and International Development in Norway and the chair of the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD as well as Andrey Kuzyaev, the VIce President of OAO LUKOIL and President of LUKOIL Overseas Ltd. About the OECD

The mission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.

It provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. The Organisation works with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change, measuring productivity and global flows of trade and investment. To do so, the OECD also analyses and compares data to predict future trends, and sets international standards on a wide range of things, from agriculture and tax to the safety of chemicals.
