How can the National Dialogue be organised to reflect a citizen-led and inclusive approach?

The 2025 National Dialogue represents a historic opportunity to reimagine South Africa’s future. However, for this process to be legitimate and transformative, it must be genuinely citizen-led, transparent, and protected from political interference.

In this webinar organised by the Interim Committee – Academic, Think tank and Research Sector for the National Dialogue, head of SAIIA’s Futures Programme, Dr Deon Cloete, will unpack the current dialogue processes and make a presentation on how the dialogue could be structured to ensure that it is truly citizen-led and inclusive. The objective is for the academic, think-tank and research sector to gain an understanding of Dr Cloete’s proposal and to critique it against the current model agreed by the Convention Organising Committee. The purpose is for the sector to have an input into the dialogue’s processes of engagement with the broader community.

Through its Futures Programme, SAIIA has provided input to ensure the process is designed with intellectual rigour, methodological integrity and an unwavering focus on epistemic justice, for every South African.

We look forward to your attendance and participation.
