Ethiopia signals interest in joining BRICS

Addis Ababa wants to be part of the economic bloc that includes Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa. But what chances does the Horn of Africa nation have? In this Deutsche Welle interview, SAIIA’s Senior Researcher Gustavo De Carvalho says there are many countries who want to join BRICS and share similar characteristics to Ethiopia. “They are regional powers, fast-growing economies, and have a large population”.
