Dr Désiré Vencatachellum is an internationally recognised expert in development finance, financial regulation and economic policy, with more than three decades of leadership across academia, Multilateral Development Banks and financial regulation. 

Most recently, Dr Vencatachellum served as Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Mauritius, the regulator of the non-bank financial services sector and global business. Before joining the FSC, he spent over 20 years at the African Development Bank Group, where he held several senior leadership positions. He served as the inaugural G20 sherpa for the African Development Bank in 2025.

Beyond his executive responsibilities, he remains an active researcher and thought leader. He is also Professor of Practice at the University of Johannesburg and Senior Fellow at FERDI (Fondation pour les Études et Recherches sur le Développement International).
