Theme: Nuclear Governance

Credible nuclear governance enables African states to safely handle nuclear materials, operate nuclear plants and research reactors, and securely dispose of nuclear waste in accordance with the Pelindaba Treaty, Africa’s agreement to maintain the continent as a nuclear weapons free zone. Effective nuclear programmes provide African governments with the means to achieve developmental outcomes in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
